EOC:

The mother moved to New York to find her daughter. She might have used all her networks and connection to even find out where her daughter was in the first place. She then started mingling with others in the art industry that she was unaware of. Of course a little bit of alcohol and mingling might lead to a job. She did not know she was networking at the time, but getting to know her date with some alcohol led her to become an artist.
While the mother was on a date, she started showing off her photos that she took, which is basically her material and content of art. Her date was actually in the art industry, little did she know. He was impressed with her work. This led the two to become business partners. Eventually the mother moved in with her date to continue her new passion of art. So she basically left her home which was down south, just to go work.
In this industry, you might not get the chance to work at your home town. You are going to have to take risks and get out of your comfort zone just to get a specific job that fits your field that you are aiming to work for. As an artist and producer, I am willing to travel the world if needed to accomplish the task that is ahead of me. Many artists and producers establish their selves in Europe, New York, or Los Angeles. One of the top three cities for entertainment.
Networking can always lead you to your next destination in life. With a little bit of alcohol involved with industry mingling, you might meet the person you need to meet that will help you get to where you need to get to in life. In order to get where I needed to get in the music industry, I moved out of Los Angeles, onto Las Vegas in order to expand my network horizon. I have now met different directors and producers from all over the world, because Las Vegas is the entertainment capital.
Now I am getting different gigs, whether I am producing, performing, or directing, I am always getting phone calls to get booked. All thanks to a little bit of alcohol, networking, and most importantly, taking a risk and moving to another city to get what I needed.
